Work With Us: Web Development Contractors

Hey there! We are Pretty Useful Co., an independent creative studio specializing in branding, illustration, and design for businesses ranging from small mom and pop setups to national corporate behemoths. We're currently looking for WordPress and Shopify Developers who can work with us on a per-project contract basis to help execute the development phase of our website projects.

Note: Although being skilled with both Wordpress and Shopify is totally cool and we'd love it, we're also happy to talk to you if it's only one!

As a developer, your primary role will be to transform our design concepts into functional WordPress or Shopify websites. You will work closely with our design team to ensure that our clients’ websites are visually stunning, easy to navigate, accessible, and optimized for user experience.

Responsibilities:

• Develop custom themes for our clients on the platform of choice
• Work with our design team to ensure the final product is consistent with the original design concepts
• Ensure that our clients’ websites are optimized for speed, SEO, accessibility, and overall user experience
• Communicate with our team on project progress, milestones, and any issues that arise

Requirements:

• Excellent understanding of the content management system, including its core features and functionality
• Solid knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP (for Wordpress) or Liquid (for Shopify)
• Experience with version control systems such as Git
• Familiarity with responsive design principles
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow design specifications
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment

Wordpress-specific Responsibilities and Requirements:

• Develop custom WordPress themes for our clients
• Stay up-to-date with the latest WordPress trends, technologies, and techniques
• Proven experience in developing custom WordPress themes, specifically using WordPress blocks

Shopify-specific Responsibilities and Requirements:

• Develop custom Shopify themes for our clients
• Stay up-to-date with the latest Shopify trends, technologies, and techniques
• Proven experience in developing custom Shopify themes
• Familiarity with Shopify Plus a bonus, but not required.
